Consultancy

PLAYLINK is a multi-disciplinary practice focusing on children and teenager’s play and leisure, and their place in wider social life. We therefore address questions that arise within a wide range of provision: parks, play areas, housing estates, the general public realm, schools, extended services and the arts. PLAYLINK’s day to day experience of ‘working on the ground’, for example, in designing spaces and places or supporting direct service delivery, feeds into its strategic, value-based thinking and approach.

We undertake a wide range of commissions, including:

  • feasibility studies
  • scoping exercises
  • open space and play space reviews and assessment
  • addressing contentious and complex issues
  • project scoping and development
  • creating contexts for learning
  • design support and critique
  • formulation of play plans
  • play policy and strategy development
  • fundraising and organisational development.

PLAYLINK Associate Consultants are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds. They have in common experience of working on the ground: running organisations, services, projects. Some have academic backgrounds, some don’t. It’s a delicious and potent mix.

What unites us is a shared value base and a commitment in common to thinking critically and productively. We act as sceptical friends. We work with people - our practice rigorous, our style conversational. We avoid jargon and speak straightforwardly to diverse audiences. It is even possible to enjoy, or at least not to suffer, our reports – we aim for succinctness.
