Play Value Assessment

As many visitors reading this will know, PLAYLINK has been and is heavily involved in both thinking about and articulating what constitutes good play spaces and playable spaces alongside actually creating them on the ground.

Thus PLAYLINK’s daily practice combines theory and aspiration with the practical business of getting things done in a less than ideal world - the real world where all manner of constraints potentially limit and affect the translation of original intention into practice. We believe, however, that though we stumble on occasion, we hold fast to the principles and values that underpin our thinking.

The Play Value Assessment service is dialogue-based and covers a wide range of activity that includes:

  • assessment of plans and designs at any stage from initial design thinking through to review of plans
  • assistance in selection of sites for example for Pathfinder and Playbuilder schemes
  • evaluation of existing sites and actual and potential playable spaces
  • looking at potential for creating shared, playable spaces within housing estates (retrofitting and new developments), parks and the general public realm
  • supporting a risk-benefit assessment approach to assessing current and future provision.
